The US is undoubtedly world’s entertainment capital so once you become famous as an artiste in America you go world-famous, and turn celeb (global mode)
However, if you’re not based in America and your waves impact far away to the extent of winning Music of Black Origin: MOBO’s International Best Artiste won by Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun (aka Wizkid) and Best African Act grabbed by David Adeleke (aka Davido) then you’ve done brilliantly well!
The fact that Wizkid beat Jay-Z et al to win the laurel is awesome and deserves commendation but putting Nigeria on the global entertainment map freaks me much more!
And I pray Nigeria begins to reap the dividends thereof. Entertainment is a formidable sector to our economy, massive employer of labour and contributes a lot (directly and indirectly) to the revenue of many nations!
Thank you Wizkid. Thank you Davido! Thank you Nigeria!
