States in south-west Nigeria celebrate their Democracy Day on June 12 today, allegedly the day Nigeria witnessed her freest and fairest presidential election but was unfortunately annulled.
With the implementation of this new policy coming from the presidency the public holiday has been extended nationwide and from 2019, June 12 will be celebrated as Democracy Day in every nook and cranny of Nigeria.
Courtesy of the national award, the book of remembrance wasn’t opened for late MKO Abiola and Baba Gana Kingibe alone ….
The promise which Nigeria took with levity is debt but it’s been finally redeemed:
Bonfere Joe, former Super Eagles manager who won the Atlanta ’96 Gold medal for Nigeria and was promised an apartment-facility in FCT since 1996 benefited from the ‘book of remembrance’ from the No 1 Office in Nigeria as well.
Bonfere Joe now owns an apartment in FCT, Abuja.
Yes we are not writing an article on this but we openly commend the thoughtfulness of the presidency on these laudable steps and achievements.
We believe in humanity and we believe in one Nigeria!
