18-year-old Samuel Nder, (first from left) alumnus of Vaatia College, Makurdi, Benue State. Overall best candidate in the May/June West African Senior Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

He made 9 A1s even in Further Mathematics. Total Score in the examination: 659.4325. He’s currently studying Software Engineering at Saint Peterburg’s Electro-Technical University Russia.

18-year-old Oyinye Oguejiofor (the only female in the pack) former student of Marist Comprehensive College, Nteje Anambra was first runner-up. She’s currently studying Medicine/Surgery at University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN). She made 9 A1s as well. Total Score in the examination: 648.5706

17-year-old Oluwatobi Raji formerly of St. Francis Catholic Secondary School, Idimu Lagos. He’s studying Petroleum Engineering at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) he made 9 A1s as well. Total Score in the examination: 640.2125

They beat over 1.7 million candidates who took part in the examinations and received their awards of Academic Excellence at the 53rd Annual General Meeting of Nigeria National Committee (NNC) of WAEC in Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria.
