Man City suffered their first defeat of the season at Stamford Bridge last weekend and that gave Liverpool the opportunity to address their 2 points deficit as well as go a point ahead of Man City.
Liverpool have +28 goals and 42 points while their biggest rival as far as week 17 is concerned Man City have 41 points and +36 goals.
Spurs are third on the log with 36 points and +14 goals while Chelsea come fourth with +20 goals and 34 points. The Blues have the same point with Arsenal but have more goals: +20 to +15.
Teams on the summit around this period usually win the league and so the Citizens should try to beat Everton while hoping for loss or draw for Liverpool as they host the Red Devils on Sunday. But the Toffees (Everton) are traditional threats to the Citizens.
The league is very open and the points that separate No. 1 on the summit (Liverpool) from No. 5 (Arsenal) is just 8 points.
Huddersfield, Southampton and Fulham are battling relegation.
Huddersfield have 10 points with (-17 goals) Southampton have 9 points with (-17 goals) while Fulham at the bottom have 9 points with (-24 goals). Any of the teams from No. 16 (Crystal Palace with 12 points and -10 goals) could end up at the bottom of the log this weekend. Therefore teams many teams are in relegation zone even up to No. 14 (Cardiff) with 14 points.
It should be a suspense-filled football weekend.
