The four major contestants for Agodi Government House are:
Former Governor of Oyo State Adebayo Alao-Akala of ADP (Action Democratic Party)
Former Deputy-Governor of CBN (Central Bank of Nigeria), Chief Adebayo Adelabu of APC (All Progressive Congress) who also doubles as the grandson of Chief Adegoke Adelabu (aka Penkelemesi)
Businessman-cum-politician Engineer Seyi Makinde is the Governorship-candidate of PDP (People’s Democratic Party) he contested the 2015 governorship election which incumbent Governor Abiola Ajimobi won.
And last but not the least lawyer-cum-politician and former Senator Solagbade Olufemi Lanleyin (aka SOLAN) is proudly flying the flag of ADC (African Democratic Congress)in the Governorship elections coming up next month.
Reportedly there are over 35 candidates contesting the Oyo State Gubernatorial election and anyone could win but these four are the major contenders for Agodi Government House.
Oyo State has it’s peculiar political climate, dynamics, history, dynasty, personalities, god-fatherism …. And until 2015 no Governor has had the double honour of two-term in the Government House. Sen. Abiola Ajimobi broke the records.
Late Lamidi Adedibu was a political juggernaut and held sway in Oyo State politics and all these and more make Oyo State stand out and so all eyes and minds monitor events unique to Oluyole.
All eyes are on Kwara State which has its special place in Nigerian politics as well and the governorship contest is typically between PDP and APC. Kaduna, Imo, Rivers, Ogun, Lagos, Benue and the like are also being closely monitored for one reason or fact or the other.
